I went over to the pet store yesterday to pick up some otos(otocinclus) and found these neat looking bristlenose plecos. I think they were labeled "Panama Red Bristlenose Pleco" They were the same price as the long finned bristlenose that were the same size so I decided to get 3 of these little guys instead.

They arent very red... kind of a pinky orange with black spots and the guy at the store had no idea if they got more red. I have tried without any luck to find more info online.

They are super active little guys. Put all 3 in my 29 which is lacking in fish atm besides a small/med veil angel and had a large amount of algae so maybe they are just super happy. They swim all over the place day and night, crazy little things dont know how to act nocturnal! Im sure they will calm down eventually. Only flaw with them is that they are going to completely blend into the naturalistic/tan colored gravel I have in my 90 gallon, which I plan to house 2(hopefully a breeding pair) in.

Well without further ado...

Those are cool plecos, they look like the calico/marble variants. They are awesome at eating algae stay small (for a pleco), but make sure you have some driftwood in there for them to graze on.

Thank you all :)
yeah I know plecos need driftwood to help with digestion. I have driftwood in all of my aquariums. I am hoping that I might get a breeding pair out of this trio and make little baby bristlenoses :)

Plecos, ahhhh yes

had a large amount of algae so maybe they are just super happy.

Suggestion:
After they clear the algae....
Put a slice of Cucumber near the front....
You'll see them more, better health/growth/ color.
Take it out when the glass needs cleaned.
Surprising how quick the cumber disappears.
Some are chameleons and will need a red background before they show the red spots.
Take care. HJ

Love the Plecos....
Some really interesting ones:
Mango
Gold spot or a Sail fin Vampire (beautiful)
Yellow spotted green phantom.
....Kinda pricey unless you get into a
wholesale buying position.
Good luck with the reds.:main_thumbsup:
Hope you got a pair.
Take care. HJ

yeah I am not into plecos that much although there are tons of gorgeous species out there.

I feed my plecos a varied diet of spirulina tablets and algae wafers(they are very similar but the algae wafers actually have more meat than veggie unlike the spirulina) and whatever vegetable we may have around the house or has been cooked. So far they have had cucumbers, broccoli stalks, and kohlrabi. Looking forward to yellow/summer squash when that is in season. Was hoping to do yams as well but last time we had them my mom cooked them weird and forgot to save me a slice before doing the whatever she did to them lol

Anyways they are doing great and I think they have grown a little. Messy little things though just like all plecos :p
