cool side issue?

I have my Leopard Gecko in a 40Gal tank and am using a 100W CHE in a wire clamp lamp to heat her hot side. Before I got the clamp lamp her hot side was at the correct temperature from 85-90 degrees but I got it because I thought it would help put the cool down her cool side down since it was 80 degrees when I want it to be at least 75. Now I think I need to get a 150W CHE cause its only heating her warm side to 83 now but the cool side hasn't changed any. What can I do to lower her cool side down? I'm currently using a Carpet as her flooring right cause I move in 3 weeks and don't want to have to try to move a super heavy tank, will the substrate help keep it cool once I do add it?

I'm not sure what her current cool side is from your description. I think an under tank heater would better maintain a temperature difference between cool and warm. I think a cool side of 75 is actually warmer than you need it to be.
