Corn Snake Question

I have my hands full at the moment when it comes to reptiles but I was thinking that maybe down the line (anywhere between 6 - 9 months) of getting a snake.

Along with the many reptiles I also have 2 cats (rather large too .. 18 and 19 lbs each). The reason why I never gave snakes any thought was because I am paranoid that if it ever escaped it would eat my cats.

A friend of mine mentioned that a corn snake can be kept in something small like a 15 gallon tank and even at full grown (around 4-5 feet) they are too thin and no where near big enough to eat anything as big as a full grown cat.

I have never seen a full grown corn up close (only babies in pet stores) so I was wondering if anyone with experience with these snakes would be able to confirm that.

Again, I do not plan on getting one (if I do get one) for at least a half a year (which give me plenty of time to research care and get a proper setup going for it) but want to see if it's something worth looking into.

Thanks in advance..

This is a great site to check out http://cornsnakes.com/forums/ My corn snake is only about one year old but i have handled adult snakes and they are a small 4-5 feet. You have nothing to worry about with your cat ;) . I love my corn snake it has a completely different personality than my gecko, it is interesting to see the differences. Also my snake is really calm and has never been aggressive, which is why they make good beginner snakes :D . I would suggest you get one.
