ive had my gecko about 3 weeks and all is good, i went over all the care sheets in here but have a couple more questions.
it seems that my gecko has no interest in mealworms and now uses his mealworm dish as his toilet (which is much easier to clean this way so thats great). Anyway he doesnt like mealworms but loves the crickets, however he seems to be scared of me.....when I come in the room and he is walking around his terrarium he runs in to his hide. To feed him i have to drop a few crickets near his hide and the ones that run in to the hide immediately get snatched up by him. A few crickets run off and hide behind the water dish or somewhere though, so my first question is - is it ok to leave a couple of crickets in over night? Or should I just throw a few in, then remove the ones that arent eaten? I heard that crickets can nibble and pester geckos and shouldnt be left in there is this true or myth?
And secondly, since he seems to be a bit scared of me even after 3 weeks will this improve if I handle him regularly? I've read conflicting information across the net about how often you should handle your gecko....some say that regular handling is good and builds up the trust in your gecko, and others say that geckos prefer to be left alone and you shouldnt handle your gecko often? Which is correct? And how can I help him to be less nervous so that he is happy to be picked up rather than run away from me
thanks
