Couple questions about my Leo.

I have a 20 gallon tank. I was wondering if it would hurt anything to get a small 5 gallon UTH and place it under my moist hide in my tank for my gecko. Do you think she would like that better? and Would I need to purchase another thermostat to do that or would the 5 gallon one not put out as much heat?

two more questions.

I just purchased the Repashy Calcium Plus 16oz bag and the Repashy Bug burger.

Are you supposed to use the Repashy CP every feeding like it says?
(I bought this because my geckos do not seem to like the exo terra calcium wo d3 / multivitamins I bought, it seems to have a horrible smell IMO also.)

and is the bug burger a good dietary/gutload/water source for mealworms? Right now I keep my mealworms in a plastic tub with Timberline Mealworm bedding with some veggies in there.

I guess you could add a mini UTH but I don't think it's really needed especially if you put the humid hide on the outside border of the heat. If the substrate is something thck like ceramic tile you will probably not need another thermostat (though you could get the kind of thermostats that let you plug in more than one UTH to it). Use the Repashy CP at every or nearly every feeding. I don't know about the bug burger.

Thank you, ALiza!

I do have ceramic tile. I just feel her moist hide sometimes and it just doesn't feel its getting humid in there, but I do have it on the outer edge of the UTH.

What would be a good Thermostat? Right now I have a Hydrofarm thermostat for both my geckos.

If your thermostat is doing a good job keeping the temperature at a certain temperature degree of choice, then I would not necessarily buy a new one. Do you have a probe thermometer reading the ground temperature on the warm side? It is always a good idea to have one of these to see that the thermostat is providing the right temperature and to make sure that the thermostat is not malfunctioning.

What are you using as moist substrate? Some moist substrates have to be replaced about twice a day toprovide adequate moisture, such as paper towels. And others can keep the moist for a day or two, such as various mosses and dishcloths (clean and unused dishcloths that is). If you are uncertain about the humidity, there are humidity readers that you could try out.

Good luck Proctor :)

Well I tend to find my girl in all 3 hides throughout the day and I do swap her paper towels about every 2 - 3 days. when they dry out I just spray them again. So I think I've got everything good for her. I want to get a bigger tank now :p. But I might need to get humidity gauge. Thanks Morten!

I wouldn't suggest a bigger cage for one gecko. If it's too big they can have trouble finding food/water/heat. 20 gal is perfect for one gecko, and I'd only up the size if you and some more in there. But I keep 2 in a 20 and it works great

Well, I have one gecko that is growing fast and he is in his own 10 gal tank. So I might get a 40 gallon and house then both in it. But im not sure if I want to put them together so I may just get a another 20 gallon tank
