We clean little guy's cage out about every other day or every two days. I change his food out, give him fresh water, rinse off his plant/vine, and throw in fresh paper towel. It also gives us an excuse to handle him for about 2-5 minutes so that he can get used to being handled. We don't over-do it, though.
He's still very tiny and very active.
We tried Dubia roaches on him the other night. They were the same size as the crickets we give him once a week-twice a week. He wasn't interested...in eating them, that is.
We woke up the next morning to find one Dubia had taken a butt dive into his food dish. The other one was on its back in his water bowl. And the third one was hiding in the corner of his cage, perfectly still.
Now, we all know that dubias cannot climb. I'm wondering (and I wouldn't put it past him because he's quite the character) if he picked them up and dropped them off there somehow. They could not have climbed into his bowls.
Anyway, we cleaned his cage out last night and he licked the CGD off a Q-tip while my husband held him.
Don't worry! He's well aware of where his food dishes are. He eats (I don't see him eat) because he has pooped almost every day since we got him.
He must've licked that Q-tip 12 times! At that rate, I expect him to grow pretty fast.
I just love him so much.
"WHOA. WTF is THAT?"
"Oh! Ish mai nomz!"
"mmm, ish tasty nomz."
And finally, it's a Crackity butt. AWWWW.
So far I've seen him "fire up" a bright yellow with black spots, and I've also seen him fire up bright red on the sides.
His mom is bright yellow, and his dad is a bi-color red. It'll be interesting to see what color he is by the time he's an adult.
Thanks for looking!
