Craigslist Rescue. What do you think?

I got this little baby 5 days ago. She was being kept in horrible conditions and as you can see, she dropped her tail.

It seems these kids were keeping her in playground sand - there were sticks and leaves in it. She also had a bowl of lettuce, and I have no idea what was in that other dish. Not to mention there was only one hide...



Since I brought her home she's been eating really well (not so good at catching crickets though, but improving) and her tail is already growing back.

I weighed her tonight and she was a whopping 9 grams. Can anyone guess as to how old she is? They told me 6 months, but I doubt any gecko would live that long in those conditions. And she's only 9 grams! I can't even compare since she has no tail.

I don't think there's any way to tell exactly how old she is, but she's probably at least 3 months since her bands have largely broken up. I have had hatchlings that still weighed 9 grams at 6 months (remember she lost weight when she lost the tail). I've had some very slow growers that took many months to get going. She looks pretty good given what you said about how she was being cared for. Glad you got her. Enjoy.

Thanks for the response! It's nice to get some feedback from someone who knows their stuff. And yeah, since she dropped her tail there's really no way for me to compare weight and guess size. But okay, 3-6 months old. Thanks so much.
