crested eating help

ok i have had my little crested for about 2 weeks know. i have only noticed twice that food it gone from his bowl( repeshy crested gecko food). i know he will take criks but i want him to be eating the gecko food better. i can see his ribs so i think he is skinny. he is very active at night, and he will take criks no matter what. but i need to know how i can get him to eat the gecko food better. any help would be great!!

The little guys tend to be more into the crickets and you may not see any sign he's eating the CGD for awhile. I have never seen my 3 year old crestie eat CGD, but there's CGD footprints in the cage. Just keep offering the crickets and the CGD and it will all work out eventually.

you have to think that a juvi crested gecko's stomach is about a 1/4 or 1/2 the size of a pea, so it wont take much for him to stuff himself

ok, i shall try to give it more time! lolol i tried to give him some on a qtip, he attacked it once like it was a crik then didnt touch it! ahhhhhh!!! this little guy is going to drive me insane! lolol also he is about 5" to 6" if you include the tall so he is still a juive right?? thanks

How often are you offering crickets???

I wouldn't offer them more than twice a week.
What I do is, when I clean out his cage, that's when I handle him.
I always give him fresh CGD when I clean out his cage. My husband then dips a qtip in the CGD, allows him to climb on him, and Crackity just licks it up.

But we only give him crickets 1-2 times a week.

i have only given him criks twice sence i got him. i tried feeding him the CGD with a qtip like you but he attacked it once like it was crik and then would not touch it again! grrrrr... a friend told me not to feed him for about 3 or 4 days and then add the CGD so he understands that is FOOD! lolol i think i will try that!!

They know it's food, they just dont eat it until the lights are out and there are no moving objects (humans) walking around.

well i made a new food dish for him. it was a bottle cap but i cut it down so it is very shalow. its only 1/8" deep. i mixed up the gecko food and left it in there last night and this morning half of it was gone! YES!!! now i can really tell if he is eating!
