hey Toronto, Great to see fellow Canadians on the GF

Your crested will do great in a live planted terrarium, this maintains the humidity problem that some keepers have some issues with.

Plants: I've read a few articles regarding the plants native to their country, they are easy to maintain and cheap. Look into this, i cant get the names off the tip of my tounge. Use a soil/peatmoss mix, the moss usually helps maintain humidity.

As for lighting, your located in the GTA area? there should be no need for lighting on the tank directly, just have the blinds open so your room is filled with light from outside.
Temperatures should never exceed 80F

I'm quite proud of her home. I got a fern on the right (£4.99) and an orchid on the left... then I put a 15W UV in there and I put in on during the afternoon while my crested is asleep to give the plants a nice bit of sun (as i'm from england and natural light is a rarity lol and then just some fake plants in the back and some coconut houses for shelter and some bathing rocks for her to sit on! and also I use newpaper with coconut bark as flooring. She seems more than happy with it all!

hope this helps

ABG (or atlanta botanical gardens) substrate is probably the best available. with a little research you will learn how to make it or you can order it from sites.
Pangea is a great place to learn about cresteds as it's all rhacs over there.
NEherpetoculture is an awesome place to get amazing plants as well as substrates, dishes, whatever you need. seriously, some of the best customer service i've ever had. they even have a gecko-safe plant list here.

basically,
- make sure you get gecko-safe plants that won't hurt your pet.
- provide lot's of climbing branches as cresties are arboreal meaning they spend most of their time off the ground.
- provide lot's of plants so they can find cover & feel secure in any area of the tank.
- & the obvious stuff like food & water dishes, make sure the humidity & temp lvls are right, proper light schedule, etc.

& just for fun-

You guys have some amazing setups, I'm on the verge of buying my first crestie. I have a leopard gecko. I'm hoping my setup will look similar to yours.
