Make sure he cant get through the mesh. 2nd they are fast if they get the urge to run. When i had mine they hardly ran from me but at times they did. Ive seen people use all different types of live plants but i only used fake ones cause i didnt want to risk the plants making them sick.

I love those mesh tops like that. I'm thinking of gettin one myself...

Are Cresties very hardy? Is there any other arboreal reptiles that would fit in that tank? I was trying to find anything under 40 dollars. I have four leopard geckos and no experience with arboreal lizards other than a house gecko. I'm trying to get something that is easy to care for, can tollerate some handling, and has a generally long life span.

Like anything else, cresties are hardy if they receive proper care. Some like to be held. Others don't. Some of the original captives from their rediscovery in 1994 are still alive, so they should have a long life by reptile standards. The ten gallon aquarium with that top should be good, but a 15 tall with that top would be better. I have a breeding loan that I'm keeping in a 15 tall with that top, and I'm very happy with that setup. A 15 tall has the same area as the ten gallon but has much more height. When you add the cage top, you get nice height for your gecko. I think you'll be happy with a crestie based on the criteria you are giving.
