Hey, all

I've had this issue with Selena since I adopted her and I've done research on the subject and still haven't come up with a solution. She doesn't seem to have the ability to stick to anything, and according to the past owner she spent the majority of her time on the floor of her tank (which was waay too small for her to begin with.) Since I adopted her, I have put her in a 27qt tall sterilite tub and I have observed no sticking ability. She doesn't even stick to my skin or clothing - she just slides off.

This is what I've found so far on the subject:
1. Early sign of MBD.
I've checked her calcium sacs and they appear to be full. She has no bone deformities and has been on the CGD diet her entire life. The food her past owner gave me was very old, though, so I have since replaced it with fresh CGD.

2. Stuck shed on toe pads.
I did observe a little bit of stuck shed in her toe pads and have soaked her feet and removed it. Still no improvement.

3. Too humid
I mist her tub once a day and let it dry out. This doesn't seem to be the case

4. Debris on tub surface
I keep her tub clean and have scrubbed it out. Still nothing.

Is there anything else that could have caused this? She is only a little over a year old. I'm confused but she is healthy and active otherwise the non-sticking issue.

Any ideas? Thanks for any responses

It may not be humid enough? She may be getting ready to shed again, but you can't see it yet. I know that mine don't climb well before they shed, even before I can see that they're getting ready to shed.

I had the same problem with my one female when we got her and it really worried me. I did all the research, too. A couple weeks later, I caught her out climbing with no problem.

The humidity here is naturally mid range (I live in North Georgia) and when I misted it twice a day it stayed too moist :( Not sure what to do but the humidity seems to hold really well and I'm afraid if I keep it too high mildew will start to grow.

I thought maybe she might be shedding for a while but it's been well over a month or two now and she hasn't been climbing at all.. :( she's been through several sheds and there hasn't been any improvements.

I wonder if she could stick to glass. It seems like it would be easier to stick to than plastic but I really have no idea. Have you snuck in a night to see what she's doing in the dark? We have a couple of Crested that I rarely see move during the day but at night climb around everywhere.

She slides off of glass, too :( I've tried. And oddly, I heard that they stick better to plastic? I have no idea, either, especially since she isn't climbing. I have peaked at her at night and she is very active (jumping around in her vines and such) but I have never witnessed her climbing the sides of the tub.

UPDATE:

After two months of not being able to stick to anything, Selena has magically regained her climbing ability completely. I'm baffled but relieved! They are such strange little creatures..

Thanks! I'm really relieved. It was so odd, I took her out today to clean her tub and I thought, 'Huh, your feet actually feel tacky today! Let me go stick you on something smooth' Haha! I'm soo happy :D

Thats really great. Was her talk gone before you got her if not what happened. I'm really nervous about my geckos tails coming off for some reason.
