Today was cleaning day. I normally don't use crickets as my staple and just buy 200 to feed a few at random. Two weeks ago I bought 2000 of them and decided to try them out full time this pay period (lol). Anyways, today was cleaning day, and all of the tubs had these little specs all over the floor... Is this just cricket poop?

Yep! :D

It's even more annoying when that gets in the water dish. More cleaning necessary :p Mealworms poop quite a bit, too. I'm mad at them for gnawing at my HabiScape rock wall backgrounds; they eat holes into them and leave a gray powder on the paper towel that I have to clean all the time. Plus I hear them crunching...

Put the mealworms in a dish?

And yes that is cricket poop. I decided to buy 1000 for staple use and I can say I will not be breeding them as intended...they suck.

They poop IN the dish, especially when one puts a bit of bread or apple in to keep them nourished. Those that escape eat the rock wall or crawl under the paper towel. I have yet to find an escape-proof dish :p Now I have detergent lids which are pretty high.

Use a something glass, they tend to slip on it and can't climb whereas with plastic they can grip it. They will live for a decent while without food so you don't really need that :p.

I have been using one of these:

I havnt kept Leopard geckos very long, but so far I have not seen a single one escape.

According to the box, they cant get out because the sides curve inward...so if they try to climb it they fall on their back.

These were pretty cheap...under $3 at Petco. I keep a small bit of their meal in there for them to eat, as well as some of the calcium supplement I bought (not enough for them to dig in, but enough to cover the bottom).

The nice thing about this dish is that it is very low too...the Gecko can easily get into it without climbing.
