Crickets eating paper?

Along with paper towel rolls and egg cartons, I put some un-used paper plates in my cricket bin that the crickets seem to like to hide in and climb on.
Anyways, I was replacing paper towels and cricket food and noticed on one of the paper plate there was holes all over it and I can only assume they're eating the paper plates.
Any reason why they would be doing this?

Some paper plates are made with corn fiber or other plant-based material that goes through minimal processing unlike most papers. Perhaps they like the taste of recycling?

They probably just like to eat it. Dubia roaches chew on egg cartons and mealworms chew through newspaper they are shipped in. Its just a bug thing i guess.

I also saw that they chew on the paper towel rolls I put in there.
I guess it is just a bug thing. I feed them potato's, carrots, cricket diet and high quality fish food.
