Curiosity: Sunglows, Tangelos...

I've been sitting here reading leopardgeckowiki (instead of paying attention in my 3 hour lab blaaah) and I have a few questions.

I get that a sunglow is any one of the three albino strains with a super hypo tang. But this is basically what a tangelo is, no? A SHTCT with a Tremper (if your sunglow is a Tremper)? What essentially is the genetic difference and how do you get animals as incredible as the ones in the photos? lol

Lets say I wanted to make more sunglows or maybe even get tangelos. With the animals that I have (at least, these are the ones I think would be useful for a project like this):
- (M) SHTCTB
- (M) Tremper Sunglow
- (F) Tangerine Tremper
- (F) normal Tremper
- (F) Tangerine tornado (really red female)
Do I have what you would need to make these guys, and if so, how would I go about doing it?

Like seriously, who doesn't want a couple of these?? :D http://www.leopardgeckowiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Image:Mmtangelo4.jpg
Thank you so much guys!

The outcome really depends on the quality of the geckos involved in the pairing. Your best chance at Tremper Sunglows would be:

Tremper Sunglow Male x Tang Tremper Female

That would get you Tremper Sunglows in the first season. But as an alternative, I'd suggest:

Tremper Sunglow Male x Tang Tornado Female in season 1, then
Tremper Sunglow Male x Best Female Hatchlings from season 1

This should give you really nice Tremper Sunglows, but not until season 2. I'll let someone else handle the Tangelo question.

By the way, the original morph names are actually Tremper Sunglow, Bell Hybino and Las Vegas Hybino. Although you often see Sunglow used to cover all three albino strains today. ;)

Great, thanks! That goes nicely with my plan to breed those two girls to that Sunglow male anyway. I just wasn't sure what I could get from my tornado, but if I can get sunglows also then fantastic. I have to admit I have a soft spot for Tremper sunglows :D

I know, but gosh, who has time to write all that out! lol I'm too lazy for that.
Thanks for the reply!

When breeding the sunglow to the tornado you will produce only shtcts het tremper. In the second generation, when breeding back the f1 females to the original male, you will produce 50% sunglows and 50% shtcts het tremper.

...if you didnt know the percentages and hets.

No one can tell me anything about the tangelos? I understand that Tremper says they're a color mutation, but you have to get close somehow, right? Or does it look like the only way to produce them yourself is by buying a pair from him? lol

The only true tangelos and super tangelos have that co-dom mutation. that is the difference between tangelos/super tangelos and the other orange albinos

Oh hey, yep I missed your post :) But, just out of curiosity at this point, what is this mutation(other than just intense color)? And how do you "get" it? Say you're a breeder and want to produce tangelos, would you just have to get a pair from Tremper himself or can you do something to get it youself?

Thanks!

You will NEVER make a TANGELO unless you have 2 from Ron... end of story :) Plenty of people will disagree , but a tangelo has a different head and body style and the coloring is just "different" .
