I broke my mom's truck again. I took the trailer back to the farm to leave it there until my next trip and it started smelling like burning rubber. It was kind of hard to tell where the smell was coming from because some skunk had got pissed off so it was hard to distinguish the skunk smell from the rubber smell. I don't know if it was a belt or what, but when I was backing the trailer up and disconnecting it, there was a loud metal clanking sound. A broken bolt shot out from under the truck. It was so fucking hot we couldn't touch it for five minutes.

Go figure. It hit 100,000 miles a short while ago and since then everything has been going to hell. Curse you, GM. I've been trying to talk her into getting a new truck ordered, but she keeps dragging her feet and I don't want to "tell her what to do." If I hadn't just bought a house and if it weren't for racking up some serious credit card bills with moving expenses, I'd fucking buy one for her. I told her she can use my MINI as a trade-in, but she's still not budging. At the rate it's going, I don't know how much longer it'll last and it would probably take two months for a new truck to be ordered. She has probably spent more than what the truck is worth just on repairs in the last 12 months.

Damn damn damn damn damn. :main_thumbsdown:

Jeremy, you should help me convince her to get a new one. *bribes Jeremy with another gecko*

LOL...while you're at it, convince State Farm to give me money so I can get a new car too!

That sucks Paul. We'll both get out of this run of bad luck soon enough. I thought I was out of mine - then SURPRISE!

On a trip to Vegas, I had the closest guess to the weight of the plane - fuel, bags, and everything - and won tickets to a show (worth about $200). I was within 400 lbs. Good luck, right?

The show was Mama Mia. Good luck or bad luck - you decide. LOL

Sorry to derail your thread Paul!

ps I don't think I can go play at Mom's house today because I have to ship out 18 geckos today.

...and because I'm still awake and I shouldn't be.

My mom took her truck in to be looked at and they figured out what's wrong with it. She couldn't remember what exactly they said needed to be done/fixed, but it sounds like just a bunch of wear and tear type stuff including a full set of brakes. I asked her how much it was going to cost, and she "forgot" which means it's at least $3-4K. It sounds like hauling a huge ass trailer around with it has been taking its toll on a 100,000+ mile vehicle.

The good news is that they'll be able to have it done within a few days, but who knows if it will last for another round trip or two to my new house. I tried to trade trucks with her a while back so that she could have a lower-mileage, newer one that only needed oil changes every 15,000 miles and was virtually problem free, but she declined. What's so fucking retarded about this whole thing is that both of my dad's old corvettes are still sitting in her shed. She could get more than enough from selling them to buy herself a new truck, but my brothers don't want to "let go" of them yet or some bullshit. The fucking things haven't even ran in over five years. One is an electrical nightmare and the other has serious exhaust and suspension issues. (You'd think that someone who taught auto-tech for 25+ years would have at least been able to keep them in working order...) I don't understand why my brothers want to keep those things around. Dad spent more time with those stupid cars than he did with us. Honestly, I'd really enjoy watching them go to the crusher.

It's just fucking dumb.

By the way, if anyone knows someone who's looking for a MINI Cooper, let me know. They're supposed to be really easy to sell, but since mine is fully-loaded, it still "costs" more than a new cheap one even though it has 36,000 miles on it. I can't believe it's been so damn hard to sell that thing. I have it listed at $3-4K less than its appraised value. I shouldn't have bought it in the first place, but there's nothing I can do about that now.

Whoops, it sounds like Paul's Boarding House just got another overnight visitor. I better go make sure there's something to eat in the fridge, and get ready to do someone else's laundry.

Part of the reason I do my gecko chores late at night/early AM is because there are fewer interruptions. Don't get me wrong, I love my brothers, but when they show up after 3:00am and need a place to sleep and are hungry and don't know how to work my wash machine because it's "different" I want to start beating myself with a hammer.

I have learned how to make a pizza pan out of aluminum foil though since I already moved most of my kitchen shit.

It's not their fault they depend on me. I've trained them to be that way because I'm controlling and have codependency issues. heh

...and UPS here is so dumb I want to beat them with hammers. lol

Just how big do you think a sticker that says "HOLD FOR PICKUP" should have to be? Seriously, I looked over the boxes and nowhere does it say, "Please leave on porch in direct sun in 85*F heat without ringing the doorbell."

But looking on the bright side, all five shipments I sent out yesterday arrived at their destinations. I haven't heard from all the recipients yet, but no news is usually good news. (Although I have to admit I check the BOI when I don't hear from someone just because some people seem to like to go there before contacting the seller)
