Day time lighting help

I plan on putting a tank on the bottom shelf a bookshelf. Even with windows idk if there will be enuff light during the day. What should I do. Should I buy a hood for the top of my tank. Are there lights that give off no heat

Yes there are light that emit light without emitting enough heat to affect environmental temps. How dark is the room where ambient light wont suffice?

Well the shelf is between 2 windows and below them. It won't be direct light. I'll post a pic when it's sunnier and not hurricaning
