Daytona Show and Storm Fay

Everyone heading to Daytona this weekend, please keep watch on the tropical storm. I know the weather might not be exactly something you'd be looking at, but they are putting a hurricane watch for that coast for the next few days. I know it changes daily, but so far they are saying it will be sitting right off the coast/starting to move in on Friday (when most of you will be getting here for the show).
Anyhow, just saying to keep watch and maybe keep contact with the Ocean Center to see if there will be delays/cancellation etc over the next few days. And airline flights.

What's the latest on Fay? I drove through it yesterday getting up to Tallahassee from Miami and it wasn't cool at ALL! I heard it might double back but either way it should be gone by the weekend. I don't have a TV setup in my new place yet so I'm kind of in the dark. An update would be nice :)

So you weren't home James? How are things down by the lake? Just from our local it did not look good/the reports that came in. Where ya moving to?
Here are two links to check-one's our local and one's the nhc. But it keeps changing. Right now they're saying it's pretty much stalled and just causing havoc on the east coast, and then supposed to start creeping across northern Florida maybe. Also that it's either going to drop down to a depression, stay a ts, or intensify to a cat1-no one knows.
Either way, come Friday morning, anyone flying should double check with the airlines and for driving check on road closures etc. Not a fun thing to drive through at all. Remember too-the cone is usually smaller than the actual storm itself and where bad weather/tornados/flooding is.

Darn this isn't good at all. Looks like I'll have to drive through it again. I'm now in Tallahassee for school (never seems to end), the semester starts next week. All my leos are still in Miami so I'll have to drive back down tomorrow. That's something I'm not looking forward to. On the bright side the show should be tons of fun.

It's flooded here. We can't even get out of the appartment with the cars. I hope the water goes some by Friday. We're in Melbourne and it's getting hit the hardest.

Here are some pics from our appartment complex. We are in southern Brevard county, right in the storm's path.

The water is in this car, as you can see...

Here is some unfortunate schmuck walking his dog in our new waterfront property...

So it appears we could be flooded in for the next day or so :(.

holy smokes, guys... I didn't know you were in the area where all the flooding is. Stay safe, and hang in there... I'm confident that everything will be just fine for Daytona this weekend. :)

Holy crud Mel-they are showing Melbourne now on the news (and Velrico, Velucia and up past Daytona) Are you having to be evacuated? They are talking about it now. They said 15" of rain so far and more to come.
Matt I wouldn't sneeze at this storm. Unless you are in an isolated spot I don't know how you are missing it. They are showing it now where you are-65m wind, pouring rain, flooding, road shut downs, a pier in Daytona beach starting to crumble.
I hope everyone over there is safe. They're calling for it to start creeping west tommorrow so I guess this is a preview of what we may be getting.
oops-It's Matt that's on, sorry for calling you Mel :)

I didn't realize you guys were in Melbourne - they were talking alot about Melbourne on the weather channel earlier today. I would've been much more concerned had I known that's where you were! Hope the water dissipates before Friday!

Well we can't sleep (because we slept all day as a result of the flooding), and just checked to notice that all the water was gone. We got a report earlier today that said we had 30+ inches of rain since Monday. Pretty cool.

its so weird the huge difference in things from one part of the country to another... and how it effects us all differently.... 65mph winds, pouring rain and flooding.... sounds like a typical "sever" thunderstorm up here in New England :main_yes: so i understand why someone from Conn. would post up pics and say no big deal! lol... its just crazy to me how different things are around the country... kind of like when some places get 4 inches of snow and shut down the state :main_laugh:

15+ inches of rain though... thats just crazy!!! hope every one is staying safe and gettin Minimal damage!!! :main_thumbsup:

Chris we are an hour and a half north of Daytona, and we haven't heard any changes yet. We are still on the good side of the storm for now. Tonight we are supposed to catch the worst so only time will tell.
