defecating in humid hide

My gecko has recently started defecating in its humid hide. It used to do it on the paper towel I had in there...I don't really mind, I'll just clean the hide more often, but could this behavior lead to ill health effects or other problems? Thanks.

No problem if you keep it clean. Try moving the hide somewhere else and maybe the gecko will continue to poop in the same location.
