defensive wag

hi i’m a new leopard gecko owner! my leopard gecko pete let me give me a bath and help shed his skin he couldn’t get off but shortly after i heard him fall after i put him back in his cage. when i went to see if he was injured he started to tail wag. he’s never done this before. after he calmed down i tried again. still defensive. and again the next day. still very defensive. he’s still eating from my hand. but scared when i set my hand out for him. normal he walks right on to my hand. he’s staying in one corner and moving slow. he normally doesn’t mind pets but now he just tail wags. usually if i scary him he runs away now he’s not moving and just defensively wagging.

is he hurt?
is he mad at me?
i’m so confused! what should i do

Keep offering food, keep talking to him and wait him out. It may take him awhile to calm down but I think he'll get there.
