i bought this little female from a local breeder at our local expo who insisted she is a diabl blanco. from what i understand DBs have red eyes and this one has black. the breeder said is is def. a DB because of her genetics and that her eyes are such a deep red that they appear black. thats why(well that and the stub tail) he was selling it at a discounted price. is this possible or did i get taken for a ride? i dont really care as im just keeping her as a pet and have no plans to breed but i would like to know what i have. i was thinking blizzard or blazing blizzard but the breeder insists she is DB. sorry for the crappy pics, i dont want to disturb her too much just yet so they are all i have.

those are the only shots i have right now. since shes new(only had her a week) im trying not to bug her too much. she also likes to bite right now. as soon as i can i'll get a better eye shot and post it.

It may also lead to her ingesting some and dying.
I would highly recommend you remove that sand asap.
Black calci sand is the worst of them all.

rreally? why is black worse than the other colors? does it have to do with the courseness of the sand itself?

Well all calci sand is bad, I was just told by a rep that black was the worst.
I didnt ask why because I have no desire to ever use it, sorry :(

Black eyes = non albino. Diablo Blanco and Blazing Blizzard are both albino and have red eyes.
Looks like a blizzard, maybe a blizzard eclipse(which is a diablo blanco without the tremper albino)

Ingestion of sand, especially with young geckos, can create a buildup within the geckos digestive system and cause impaction. Impaction will lead to death. It does not occur with every gecko but the probability is high when you use a substrate that could be ingested such as sand. A better substrate choice that is "decorative" would be ceramic tile. You can buy it from your local hardware store in whatever color/pattern and have it cut to size to fit your geckos tank.

so a blizzard eclipse has solid black eyes then? google search shows some that appear to have black eyes but more that look like the have bi-colored eyes.

the breeder insists its a diablo blanco with the eyes such a deep red that they appear black. is that possible or is the breeder up in the night?
