Diablo blanco x ember pairing and offspring crossed back gives this male.
Who knows what it is?
Never seen a gecko this color with such a white nose, littlebit like total eclipse but then yellow :)
It has red eyes and white feet also
Is it just a strange looking raptor het for blizzars/mp or ... ??:p

Offspring passed back to which gecko? Ember or DB?

^^Very important question.

I've always read that "the eclipse gene is usually accompanied by a white nose/feet" but I never saw a nose so white...it's like a white-nosed rudolph.. :D

I am sooo new at this that I had to google "ember" to find out that an "ember" is a "murphy's patternless raptor"...lol (and I am pretty sure a DB is a "blizzard raptor") but if I am right:

This hatching has a pattern, so it is "Raptor ph murphy ph Blizzard"?? It is possibly het for blizzard and murphy because it's parent (that came from "DB x Ember" cross) was "HET blizzard HET murphy".
-------------------------------------------------------
Note: This is my best guess and I lack alot of experience.

----------------------------

and also...I believe if you take a "ph" and breed it back to a "pure" double-recessive, then you are able to conclude that the 3rd year hatclings will be "HET" instead of "ph". so:

raptor het blizzard het murphy X DB = raptor het blizzard ph murphy (if the blizzard gene isn't visible/active/"double-recessive") because you are guaranteed 1 blizzard gene from the DB.

same thing if the raptor het blizzard het murphy hatchling was crossed back to the original Ember: if the new hatchling does not visibly show murphy, you can still know that it is "raptor HET MURPHY, ph blizzard" because it got 1 recessive gene from the Ember parent.

--------------------------------------------------------------
In summary, someone please confirm, yes or no: This hatchling HAS TO BE either "Raptor HET blizzard, ph murphy" ORRRR "Raptor HET murphy, ph blizzard"?? :)

(I hope I am getting the hang of these genetics..lol)

Correct, raptor het mp/blizzard. The het is responsible for the patterning.
^^Ummm...not so sure about this.

Diablo blanco x ember pairing and ________offspring crossed back____________ gives this male.

So, as in my last post, this male came from "raptor het mp/blizzard" X "one of the original parents".....see my post above for my guesses on what this male is, based on the info provided and my limited knowledge. :D I think Treefolk just didn't notice that you subtlely mentioned a "re-pairing" before this male was produced. :)

------------------------------------------
And just to add to my last post: In an effort to cover all possible bases while considering the vague info provided..... If the OP actually meant that 2 of the 1st hatchlings were "crossed back" to EACH OTHER:

"raptor het blizzard, het murphy" X "raptor het blizzard, het murphy" = "Raptor ph blizzard ph murphy" (since your male hatchling appears to have a pattern)

I'm 100% sure about this. Go read the diorite thread in this subforum. Thad from Ohio geckos clearly demonstrates speckled patterning from het blizzard and het MP.

This gecko is not pm or blizzard, so it's raptor het blizzard and/or murphys

I did not mean any offense...I actually make it a habit to announce "Im new...don't count on 100% accuracy"...lol

I was saying "I'm not sure" because the info provided from the OP is a little vague. In the original post's wording, it sounds like:

DB x Ember made: Raptor het blizzard het mp.

-----------------------------------

But then it gets a little vague: "offspring crossed back". to which parent? or to each other? The outcome will vary depending on what the offspring was "crossed back to". Is it:

Raptor het blizzard het mp X DB?

or

Raptor het blizzard het mp X Ember?

or to another sibling

Raptor het blizzard het mp X Raptor het blizzard het mp?

------------------------------------------------------

Can you please summarize what causes the "speckled pattern" for me and for the OP, or for anyone else who searches for this answer? :) Is the "speckled pattern" proven to be "het blizzard het mp"? If so, is it random under those situations or constant/reliable?

Im not so sure on this Thad I believe was talking about het blizzard in snows causing speckling there is no snow in this pairing, but definitely speckling going on here. I have produced several raptor het blizzard over the last year and no speckling, I'd love to here from others on this, I hope I'm wrong because I love the speckled looking raptor

I could be wrong but it makes the most logical sense and often times the most logical thing is the right thing.

It's clearly not MP or blizz and obviously tremper, eclipse and het blizz or Mp causing spreckling. He needs to test it against a diablo, an ember and a banana blizzard.

(a) Raptor het blizzard het mp X DB?

or

(b) Raptor het blizzard het mp X Ember?

or to another sibling

(c) Raptor het blizzard het mp X Raptor het blizzard het mp?

------------------------------------------------------

Depending on who the first-year hatchling was mated to (see above quote), I was assuming this 2nd generation male would be:

(a) Raptor HET blizzard, POSSIBLE het mp

(b) Raptor HET mp, POSSIBLE het blizzard

or

(c) Raptor POSSIBLE het blizzard, POSSIBLE het mp
----------------------------------------------------
^^^all these outcomes ("het" and/or "ph") are ASSUMING that this new male is NOT full-blizzard and/or full-mp....based on phenotype visual appearance....so at best, each scenario is assumed to carry just one of a gene-type. :) (??)

Ii think what tree is saying that it is a raptor het blizzard which is causing the speckling as it does in snows (dorite), there may be something to this. I myself have never herd of this happing in raptor het blizzard but it could be possible. I am very curious on this because I love the speckled look. Anyone have info on this? Could one parent possible be mack then could this be a dorite mack raptor (mack raptor het blizzard)?

The Mack Snow gene really helps the speckling of the het blizzards but even non Mack snows are known to be speckled. I have breed by Tangerine Hypos and RAPTORS to Blizzards and all my hets are have no speckling. My personal belief is that the hypo trait erases the speckling, I would be very interested in others experience and results. I also mentioned in the Diorite post that I suspected that the Murphy patterneless gene may be present also and may account for higher speckling when mixed with the Blizzard trait. I have never mixed the two so we need some breeders that have mixed them to chime in here :)

That is one cool RAPTOR! Keep us updated with pics, I would like to see how the speckling holds up.
