I believe you can only get Xanthics from Ron Trempers line of Diablo Blancos, not from creating your own............. but its not proven yet though.

I'm pretty sure Tremper hasn't released any info about what genetic combo is needed to produce the xanthics. I'm sure it could be created by making it yourself (just like RAPTORs), but I don't know that anyone has done it yet.

Albino ht DB X albino het DB
1/16 = DB

It is a three gene morph, but when doing the math, you only have to worry about the blizzard and eclipse genes, because both of your breeders are already expressing the third gene. So just off the top of my head I know that a double het recessive breeding yeilds 1 out of 16.

As for the Xanthics, I think he made too many claims after just looking at a few that were only hatchlings. He would be the one to know the most how hatchlings change from one week to another, so how can he predict what they will look like as adults? For all he, and anyone else knows, all the current xanthics were both expressing the albino and blizzard trait. Before any claims are made they would have to be outbred and the "new gene" would have to be seperated from the other genes in the project. So since no one really knows what they are, its safe for anyone to assume that anyone can hatch them. I personally believe that the "xanthic" eyes are caused by the eclipse gene, blizzard solid eye trait, and albino all three expressed at the same time. Alot of breeders have been breeding solid eyed blizzards to raptors to see if they are the same gene. All of the hatchlings hatched with normal eyes, but to the best of my knowlege, only RT bred the resulting het diablo blancos togeather in enough numbers to see what would happen with the two eye traits. And I would bet money that he would of crossed a solid eyed blizzard to a raptor the first chance he got to see if there was a link between the two traits.

We'll know much more about the "Xanthic" gex this season. The handfull of hatchling DBs with the xanthic appearance (less than a half dozen out of several hundred DB project hatchlings) are breeding together even as we speak.

So lets just wait and see?:main_yes:
