Dificult problem to decide (help!)

Ok heres the deal:
I currently have a 8 month old leo living in a 71/2 gallon(i know its small but just keep reading)
I have the choice of either getting another leo(1 that i plan on breeding with my leo)which will be younger by it by about 6 or so months(i heard getting geckos when theyre older has a higher chance of them being aggressive etc....)
Or i have the choice of getting a 20 gallon long.either way though i have a 70% chance of getting the other in 4 months time.

Ok heres the main problem cause i bet just by reading this question youre probably thinking its an easy 1 just get the tank blah blah... but
if i get a gecko now then it'll have more time to adjust to my place and there will be less chance of it being agressive during breeding season(dont want any gecko limbs flying everyhere) but if that happnes then their living conditions will be harsh>.<.
If i get the tank now then my current girl will have alot of room to live in and living conditions will be less harsh. On the other hand theres the chance of her being agressive towards her future mate when he invades her territory when i buy him...(geckos will breed with males younger than themselves right?)
I know this is alot but if you can help it would really be apprecitaed. Thanks

Look for a tank that you can put dividers in. Then you can keep your male and female separate until you are ready to breed. You can remove the divider for breeding, then put it back in place when that is done.

If your current leo is 8 months and the new one will be 6 months younger, they cannot be housed together. A male and female should not be put together until they are of proper breeding size and weight of at least 50 grams. Any new gecko you get (if sized properly to be housed together) should be quarantined at least 30 days until you can determine they are healthy and desease free. I personaly don't recomend dividing a tank, for 1 the quarantine process, and two I think it would be difficult getting a proper hot and cool side for both halves of the tank. Especially a 20 gallon. So IMO I would look into getting both of them there own set ups. as for the aggresion thing, you can't house a male and female together until there older, so I wouldn't worry about seeking out a younger gecko. If you were housing to females together you would probably have a better chance of them getting along if you paired them younger, but it doesn't sound like thats what your going for. hope tis helps and welcome to GF:main_thumbsup:

If your looking to breed than providing the one you have is of breeding size and weight than I would get the other already of breeding size. If your in no hurry than you might want to get a juvi or baby so you can enjoy watching it grow. I guess it all depends on your intentions. If your looking to breed PLEASE do some research on everything breeding consists of. Its easy to get the urge to want to breed, but there's alot to it.:main_thumbsup:

If you get an older leopard gecko that has been handled regularly, you shouldn't have any problems with it.

i think it would be absaloutely cruel to put two leopard geckos in a 10 gallon tank!! no matter how you look at it, couple weeks, couple months, i believe its cruel!! if you want to bring a WILD ANIMAL in to your home, you must meet its minimum requirements!! (i know ppl say a 10 gallon is fine for an adult, but i disagree, a 10 gallon is sooooo small, and after you fit your hides and what not the poor reptile has no room to walk around)

also, i have two leopard geckos that absaloutely hate eachother, but becuz they are living in a 70 gallon tank with MANY MANY hides they dont' fight at all, when I had them in a 30 gallon housed together, they fought all the time, so actually having more room in your tank will help both your leos get accustomed to the new size..The more space and hides you have, the better chance you wont have any fights!!
You could buy a 100 gallon tank and put two leos in there, and they would use every inch of that tank!!
