Digging?

I am housing two female's together and one of them is digging? I know that this is a sign of her about to lay, but that is impossible? I was wondering if there was a reason for the digging?

My male digs ALL THE TIME so I guess it's not always a sign of laying...I think some of them just do that.

On the other hand...leopard geckos CAN lay eggs without ever being fertilized by a male...obviously the eggs won't be fertile...but they can still lay them...just FYI...so keep an eye out :)

This might sound stupid, but the infertile egg thing, is it just whether or not the gecko feels like it, or is it going to happen regardless?

It's one of those "may or may not" things...the female doesn't do anything to produce the infertile egg, and it doesn't happen on a "normal basis"...it's one of those things that just happens every now and then...I know that sounds vague, but it's the best I can do without risking misinforming you...hope this helps! :)

I have 2 geckos that go to the corners in their tubs and dig. If they were little miners they would have dug through to China i think. Alot of the time the pick up the paper look under it, put it back down dig in the corner some more, pick up the paper look under it and the cycle goes on.

They have been doing that for i dunno how long. Maybe they have bones they want to bury or something i dunno. lol.

I think they just ~like~ to dig. If there are any Euro hobbyists that can give us their top secret clay-sand-mix-that's-safer recipe, I'm all ears.

For my leo lovlies, I just have vermiculite and moss in layers in their little damp hide tubs so they can dig if they want to.

My young female, about 9-10 months old, has started the habit of digging in the corner every day right after waking up. SHe's been doing it for about a week now. xD
It's no big problem except she does it around the area where she goes to the bathroom so she'll always kick up the paper and especially the toilet paper that she does her business on, so I always have to open the tank to fix it up.
