Digital pen tool on a stand

What are those things called that you see professional digital artists using? They are a pen that is mounted on an arm that is linked to the computer and you can use it to draw.

No, it just senses the move movements you make with the pen, and it shows up on the screen. Its just a stand with a pen shaped thing on it.

he very well may be looking for something else. i asked my friend and he says he used to work with something like that back in school for technical drawings but he can't remember what its called

That works the same as what I was talking about, not it though. I will look into it, I want to get into digital graphics and drawling, like making logos for stuff..

I dunno about a stand with a pen shaped thing on it...... but I do know Wacom makes the best tablets as far as drawing digitally goes. I have an Intuos 3 6X8 I use for art, best $250 I ever spent on ebay :D.

There are those Cintiq tablets where you work directly on screen, I could see that being interpreted as a pen that senses movement. http://www.wacom.com/cintiq/index.cfm
