Hello,

The ones of you using digital thermometers, like the ones from Exo-Terra and many other brands available in the market, how long do those batteries usually last? How often you have to replace them?

If you had experience with them please let me know. Thank you.

Oh come on I'm sure some of you also use digital thermometers with remote probes. :/
Please share your battery experiences!

I use this (well, it's from the same company but looks a little different, mine's thicker this one is thinner):

It's an indoor/outdoor probe digital thermometer that you can get at Wal-mart or maybe Home Depot and the like for pretty cheap, usually between $5 and $10. It measures two temps, one at the probe and one on the unit, and even humidity if ever need be. They only take I believe one AA battery (not too sure, I've had mine for well over a year and haven't had to change it yet! I forget what the package said :p).

Sorry I didn't answer your question, I wasn't sure if you were asking about one you had or asking because you were thinking about getting one :) I've honestly never used a "reptile specific" digital thermometer because IMO it's just overpriced for fancy packaging.

I like the Exo Terra LED a lot. $10.99 and a bargain at that. We've checked them with certified thermometers and they are within .5 degrees....very accurate. We even use them in our incubators to verify our temps. Much better than guns or anything else we've tried. The batteries last a long, long time...in fact, we've been using them for a couple years and we've yet to replace one.

You can buy those batteries at dollarama, but they normally only last for a few weeks. Buy the expensive ones, theyre better.

I have an exotera thermometer with a probe. The battery seems to last about a year maybe more. The battery is a large flat watch type battery.

Ive used the thermometer that Klogue posted and its pretty good. I like the indoor/outdoor thermometers you get from walmart better. They tend to use regular batteries, AA or AAA. Most people have those on hand so its not a big pain when its time to change batteries.
