I have a used 30gal I got for next to nothing from a lady that breeds rats and pythons, whats the best way to disinfect it before use? Ive read ammonia, bleach and vinegar solutions not together of course haha. I prefer not to use chemicals in my reptile enclosures but I have a household steamer and Im wondering if that would work to kill anything that might be in there. I use diluted vinegar for regular cleaning and the steamer for food and water bowls, but since its a used tank and I have no idea what exactly was in there I want to be sure its safe before I use it. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Ammonia is what I use. It it suppose to kill a lot of bacteria that Clorox and other household disinfectants will not. Since your tank was used, I would go with ammonia. Just rinse it out really good and let it air out for a good while.
