DIY News papper hide idea.

I was wondering if i could fold a piece of newspapper over a large rock(to create a more natural shape) and then grout it inside and out to make it a solid piece. I havnt worked with grout before so im not familiar with its properties. Any suggestions?

Foam would be easiest for you i think, its like $3 for a huge sheet at lowes.
But if you wanna mold the rock, i would say to use wax paper, i has a feeling newpaper would not come off the rock well, grout is pretty moist and the newpaper would stick it it.

The issue is that i have NO hardware stores in my area, walmart only has grout lol. Wax papper gave me an idea, i can heat it over the rock(oil it up) and that would bend it to the exact shape, then the question is if grout will stick to wax papper.

it should, just mix it a little thicker then normal and put it on in thin layers to prevent buckling.

I used to work at walmart and i know for a fact the have a giant trash bin in the back FULL of styrofoam chunks. I'd grab a ASSISTANT or SHIFT [very important, no other manager will give you the time of day] manager and ask if you could have a bag of their trash foam. You might get lucky!


You could also try using clay? theres a recipe for it with like flour and household stuff floating around this forum. I can find it for you if your interested.

hehehe, its already in the oven XD. Im fast like heck. I used a glass bowl to mould a nice little roundish hut. Still gotta get waterproofing and paint.
