Hi, I REALLY want to get a ball python within the next 2 years, but my parents won't let me. It's not so much of a fear of snakes (my dad used to catch rattle snakes) it's that they say the poop smells.... Is it true? I have 3 bearded dragon and their poop can smell. Can it be compared to a bearded dragon, can someone put it on a scale of 1-10?

i have 3 ball pythons right now (and more to come) and as long as you clean them everyday there is no smell to them people think that snakes are gross slimey and smell but they are all wrong tell your parents that you will clean the everyday and there will be no smell

You don't really need to clean them everyday, just be punctual about cleaning up the poop once a week or so, then replace the bedding once every 2 weeks to a month. As for the poop smelling, I honestly don't think it's that bad. Ball pythons don't get that big, and their poop isn't that big either. As long as you use absorbent bedding (like aspen shavings), the smell is minimal.

i must disagree with the poop not being that big ive seen some really big poops fom my normal female that were around 4 inches long and 1.5 to 2 inches around it was a big poop but it didnt stink thou

its all in what you feed them ive heard people feeding chicks (baby chickens) to ball pythons becuz they are very cheap but the the smell was so horrible that they switched back to rats

like i said if you spot clean everyday then there wont be any smell and change the bedding often i have learnd this from living in an apartment where i have many exoctic animals and you would never know i have any eccept for the occasional cricket or mel worm bettle that has escaped

I've never noticed a smell with my daughter's ball python. My bearded dragon however smells bad. Once you clean it up, the smell is gone, so it's no big deal.

I have 3 at my house right now and poop is easy to find and I never smell it until I pick it up to thrown it away then it's gone right away and on a scale of 1-10 it's a 2 for me. Good luck:D

I've had bearded dragons, and their smell can be horrendous. When I had mine, even after cleaning it still smelled.

I have four snakes and of all my reptiles, the four snakes and one frog smell the least. I have an adult ball python in my room and you don't even know he's there. Some of his poops are big, but they dont smell at all.

My son's 4 foot ball doesn't stink at all and he changes teh substrait once a month-ish (we use bark chips as aspen can cause breathing issues or so I was told). Spot clean the poos when you see them and your good. Personally I think he smells more when he's coming into a shed then he does from poo'ing. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 1.5-2 on the stink meter.
