ok- not that I am scared to be bitten I would just like to know if it is going to hurt and what the degree of pain is, I have been bitten by ferrel cats wild ferrets and dogs(managed a kennel and broke up a few fights).
So, I can take a bite I just want to know if its going to hurt badly. My leo hasn done anything yet but he holds his mouth open when I hold him so,I am thinking he may be trying to make a point.

No, it doesn't hurt at all.. I have heard stories of blood being drawn by a gecko, but I also heard that didn't even hurt!

How exactly does he hold his mouth open when you hold him? I have nevr heard of that.. I have one gecko that opens and closes her mouth a lot (kinda like she's yawning) when I hold her, is that similar to what yours does?

yes, I wondered if she was yawning,or if someone may have been feeding her that way? its pretty cute even if it is a threat.

I reckon some geckos have stronger jaw power and sharper teeth than others. When I fed silkworms (big ones) to my geckos, I had some that bite down but didn't even leave teeth mark on the silkie; I guess a bite from them won't do much harm. On the other hand, when one of my biggest male chomped down a silkworm one time, his bite managed to cut the worm in 2 clean halves, with straight edges just like how it looks like if the worm was cut by a knife...I was really suprised when I saw how clean and powerful his bite was. I will never want to get bitten by him, I think I'll need stitches if he bites.

it truly depends on the leo... as stated above some do bite harder than others but some will realize biting you was a mistake and will let go right away... others mainly those that bite in self defense when they feel threatened will stay on and possibly draw blood. My tremper female bit me a few times hehe that was quite funny... it was more of a little pinch than anything serious

Yeah, I don't know what that means? Our gecko that does it has been having to take oral antibiotics for that past 10 days, and so I was thinking maybe it's her way of protesting the antibiotics? I thought it was pretty cute too, though!!

My BF gets constantly bitten by my gecko but it doesn't hurt (as far as he says), and once he got bitten and he didn't even notice he had been bitten until I told him - although mine are both babies!!

If you have survived cat and dog bites-(and cat bites HURT!)-
you can deal with a gecko bite

Even when it is one of the larger ones (esp. Giants)and they do draw blood-it's not that bad
It does hurt but not for that long

However-the bites do bleed for quite a while
I am not sure if there is something in their saliva that is an anti-clotting agent but their bites seem to take forever to stop bleeding

I got bit in 2nd grade and the gecko drew blood, but I didn't cry cuz it didn't hurt at all! With most it just feels like a little pinch and them its over with. Some geckos seem to like holding on though, so be careful :D.

I have been bitten by both ferrets and geckos. The ferret hurt! The gecko made me laugh; felt more like a pinch.

Some bits draw blood, but don't really hurt. Other bites just tickle. I would say on a scale from 1-10. Leos are a 1, that is with the ones that draw blood. It scares the crap out of ya, every time though. I would say a dog bite would hurt way worse though.

I have been bitten 3 times where it drew blood, and once required stitches. It HURTS. Bad!
Once here too. Bad enough that I thought it would never stop bleeding. If they bite you and twist or shake their head as some do.....you got a BAD bite baby. It left enough memory of it to feed by hand only while holding prey with wooden tongs. Take care / HJ

My gecko bit me a few weeks ago. She had hidden under my bed, and I picked her up, and was crawling out from under the bed when I noticed she had her mouth open. I know bearded dragons open their mouth as a stress response, and I figured that geckos did too, but then she bit me!!!! It drew blood, but didn't hurt that much. It stung a little bit. I was more upset that I'd scared her than the fact that she'd bitten me. Since then, I've seen her open her mouth a few more times, but she hasn't bitten me.

I wouldn't worry about the pain.
