Do I leave the heat lamp on at night?

I just got my Leo yesterday (had bearded dragons in the past, no space for that these days). I have an under tank heater and a ceramic heating emitter in order to get adequate temps right now. Should I leave the heater on at night? Once it gets hotter outside, my room will probably be hotter, and not require the lamp. I have regular lamps in the room to provide light during the day.

I wouldn't leave it on, if it's a red light lamp you can leave it on though that's mostly your preference. Leo's can't see red light and having a light on all day will confuse them and make them think it's day 24/7. I don't even use a lamp and he's fine so yours should be fine also :)

Confused about whether it is a light lamp or a light-less ceramic heat emitter that you're asking about.

If it is not a light, you could certainly leave it on, but I would not bother unless the temp in the cage is going to drop below 65-70 F. It's fine to have a bit of a heat drop at night, as would normally occur in an environment. The cage doesn't have to be heated to daytime temps all the time.

It's a ceramic heating emitter for the heat. I did end up turning it off last night. I probably stick it on a timer later.

if it is a light, I say turn it off, and you really shouldn't use overhead light or heat. they don't bask in it, they need heat underneath to help with digestion.

Like Indyana said I wouldn't use it at all unless the temperature in your house is under 65 degrees. The air temperature in your leos tank should be about 75-80 degrees. If it's close to 90 it is far too hot.
