Do you need a humid hide 24/7 ?

Do i need a humid hide in my tank all the time or just when shedding ? ive only seen mine use his once when i first got him a week ago but he just shed at the petstore before i purchased him.

It can go either way. Some of them love the humid hide and spend a lot of time in there. Some never use it, even when shedding. I figure it's a good idea because it gives them a consistent choice of a range of environments.

it gives them a cool damp hide to escape from the heat just like in the wild

I say 24/7. I have 3 geckos right now and they all use it at different times. My male is in and out of it every day. One female uses it every blue moon and the other only to shed. I take a small 4" square tuppaware container and cut a hole in the lid. It doesnt take up much room and they also sit ontop of the lid so it adds more floor space in a way.
