with a towel or something to help raise ambient temps and up the humidity in the dry winter? Would that cause any sort of problem that I'm not aware of? I was thinking I'd put a folded towel over half the screen to help with room temps.

I do lay some plexiglass over the SW banded geckos' enclosure since they seem to like a bit more humidity. I had a gecko escape once from a 20 long where the top was a bit open (maybe a 2" gap) and there was no visible way to climb to the top, so it's possible that a gecko could get to the towel and then get through.

Well, I was actually thinking I would just drape the towel over the screen top to keep the tank warmer. So it would still be secured. Does that sound like it would work? Do you foresee any issues?

i put a few pieces of construction paper over part of the screen top of my geckos tanks in the winter. it stops some of the warm air from leaving the tank so quickly. ive been doing this for a couple years now and havent had any problems. ive wondered if it would be detrimental to anything, but so far nothing. i just make sure its not too close to the ceramic heat emitter because i dont want any fires!

I have been covering most my screen with plexiglass. I have all but 1/2 covered on the cool side. It has raised ambient air temp about 5 degrees. It even stays a little warmer at night.
