I Have a female that I breed back on October 7th, She's a first time breeder and I didn't think it was a successful breeding so I was going to wait until she started ovulating again to breed her. Her appetite has been decreasing too... and she's looking like she's egg bound :main_thumbsdown: Since I'm a new breeder I wanted to see if I was correct. Thanks for your help in advance.

She's ABSOLUTELY gravid. After 5 weeks, she should have laid her eggs. At this point, i'd be calling my vet and asking for some oxy...it's the same kinda stuff they give us to induce labor when we go past our due date...

A regular injection for an exotic animal less than 5lbs at my practice goes for around $14. If you have a good relationship with your vet, he might be nice and waive the exam fee for you and hopefully just give the injection. She might need an xray as well, so be prepared for that.

I'm sure others would say to wait, but IMHO this isn't something you wanna just "wait and see". Worse comes to worse, she goes to the vet and she isn't eggbound and I feel like a dork. 5 weeks is the cutoff limit for me though, I think you're better being safe than sorry.
