I want to set it up so I can see my colony activity. Is their a light source that does not bother them ? I tried a red led and that still bothered them.

did you try a black night the exo terra kind i use a black one on mine but i like lobster roachs better

no I was seeing if someone had a proven way to view their activity

just put them in a 20 gallon all glass cage and cover up 3 of the 4 sides and that should work

They run when they see any light, I was hoping to get a special light I will be able to see as they come and go from their food, water I have in the open as they have to leave the egg cartons with light they wont though.

Yup thats a problem...
Some people say you need heat for them to breed...
So I might just get a black light and try that....
But whenever I even open my lid (they are in my dark closet) they run and hide...
So ya...they are scared shitless.

you do need heat for them, they breed very slow under 80F but do the best in the 90's

Is it OK to heat with a light?
Cause I have an extra spot light.

they hide from light so i would say use a under tank heater or space heater and try to avoid a spot light, maybe a ceramic heater.

so no light...is there such thing as a cerramic heater under $20...and how much wattage does it need...sry pkrtech for kinda stealing this thread...but i was wondering also xD...

you would have to experiment with the heat, heating pads work great just make sure you dont get one with auto-shutoff
