Is is still necessary for me to provide a heat source for these roaches even if I live in a warm state like Florida?

If so, would a UTH work good or does the heat need to come from above like a CHE??

For a while I did not have any type of heating on the tub of dubias I had. It did take quite some time but I did start to see some new babies after about 2 months. The average room temperature was probably around 76 degrees.

I just recently got a second tub to separate the adults and nymphs and picked up 2 small (5 gallon tank) UTH's to stick on the bottom (on one side).

Since I just recently put the UTH's on (a few days ago) I do not know how much of a difference it would make from room temperature. But from what I have read the higher temp should help in speeding up production.

Anyways, from the short time I have started breeding them, they will still breed at room temperature .. just may take a while.

Also, another key thing is to just leave them alone outside of changing out food and water crystals. When I first got them I was constantly opening up the tub to check them out which I guess probably stressed them out and a few of the females ended up dropped their egg sacks.

But now I just leave them alone and check on teh food every few days and I am seeing a new batch of nymphs each time.

Do you keep them inside or outside in a garage? Also when you hooked up the UTH's are you using a thermostat? or did you plug them directly into the wall outlet and have the UTH's running at full heat?

Give them a UTH. Temps in the mid 90s will have them growing and producing very fast for non-climbers. Infact I have had to cool mine down on numerous occations to slow their reproduction a bit.

Fresh F&Vs once a week with a constantly filled dish of hight protein dry food and fresh water crystals is a must.

High temps, medium to modeate humidity and good ventelation is also needed to keep a healthy colony going strong.
