Superworms - ~16% fat

As I understand it - it is quite common in the US to use worms as a staple diet. Where i come from - Sweden - the general opinion seems to be that the staple diet should be crickets or roaches. Worms (and for that matter pinkies) are thought of as a treat or to give egg laying females, juveniles or convalescents a boost. Now... can´t speak for everyone but this is my impression from reading, browsing the internet and talking to others. I´ve been visiting a German forum searching for information in another matter. I think I´ll go back to find out what they say about this. This is interesting - the differences in opinions about caring for leos are there. ...and what about the French?:main_robin:

Crickets are more likely to carry parasites. Also, have heard horror stories of species of crickets that can be very harmful. I think Dubia are great. Superworms are good and I would rather use supers then mealies. Mealies aren't bad, but I would rather feed less feeders and supers are much bigger. Worms aren't bad. Variety is good. I know people have differing opinions and I'm not saying your wrong, just that worms really aren't that bad if you are giving a variety and your using good supplements and gut loading feeders properly.

No, I know you´re not :) There´s rarely only one truth about what is right. Having different opinions and experiences and knowledge and sharing and discussing them is the way forward. :) I hope neither you nor any one here has felt I´m saying they are wrong. If so I apologize!

Just didn't want to come across like a know it all :). It's always a hot debate because many feel very differently about feeders. Although pretty much everyone will agree that Dubia are an awesome feeder. Wish my wife would let me start a colony :)

Thank you all for your responses so far.
Being a newbie to reptile ownership, I really don't know where to start when it comes to feeding, but at least I know now that mealies aren't all bad, and it's OK if he wants to eat them.
I tried to get some roaches at the shop, but the medium ones looked dead, and the large ones were huge!
