i know afghans are generally a smaller subspecies however i have noticed in a particular line that "dwarf" afghans pop out. generally noticeable by a short squaty apprentice and as far as i can see staying in a 20-30 gram weight range. i have noticed deformities in this line as well. kinked tails and general skeletal bone deformities. have any of you hatched any of these out or have gotten one? were the parents "normal looking"? i have talked to a couple of others and they have noticed the same. it's weird to find such deformities in assumingly so closely related to "wild caught" animals F1's F2's etc.

anyone elses experiences?

i am trying to get away from this line altogether (even the "outcrosses" and "crosses"). i do not want to taint the leopard gecko lines anymore than they already are.

No, no deformities here out of 7 hatchlings we have another 8 eggs set to hatch within weeks but you know some of our pairs. I do whole heartedly agree with you about "outcrossing" and "crossing". They shouldn't be bred to other morphs and cloud it up even more. Ours will never be crossed.

Where do the afghans trace back to? Is there anyone who can provide proof of descent from WC parents? I see a lot of people claiming to have pure subspecies but no paper trail to back it up.

possibly 1 or 2 groups but i think most of the rest that came in from europe really have no direct links other than hearsay.

This is the frst I've heard about dwarf afgans. Is there any relative place/breeder these dwarves are coming from, or are they just popping up in all afgan offspring? This was the first season I have been fortunate enough to work with these guys and I absolutely love them. However, I'm curious as to what this could mean for the subspecies.
