Our highly anticipated pairing for this season has taken a very unfortunate turn. We paired Enigma (Line bred Snow Enigma het RAPTOR) approximately 7 weeks ago with successful copulation the first night. By the fourth week we started getting a bit worried because she laid every 20 days like clockwork last season so it was very unusual. The first clutch of the season can take a bit so we waited. A little after 6 weeks we decided to take her in and do an x-ray. That day we were prepping her for surgery but the Dr. ran out of time and so we rescheduled two days later (yesterday). We gave some oxytocin in hopes to maybe avoid surgery but the two injections given didn't make a difference so she was taken to surgery yesterday. Both eggs were removed (along with the ovaries). She's home today and still a bit out of it but was drinking some water which is great. We'll be keeping everyone updated on her progress. Fingers crossed!
