I feed mine under a normal schedule, even after shed, and it still gobbles everything up :D

And they also eat their shed to get rid of their presence from predators as a natural instinct.

I tried feeding the little guy and it didn't eat. He also didn't eat today only ONE mealworm. He goes up to it smells it and licks it then walks away. I hope he's ok or maybe he doesn't like mealworms no more LOL

This...is correct. Good job :main_thumbsup:

I do not believe that the skin that is shed has ANY essential nutrients in it. I don't really see how it could. I could be wrong, but I just can't make any sense of it. It's just shed skin.

Sometimes they're not in the mood to eat right before and right after a shed, so don't worry about it. Just keep some worms in a bowl for when he decides its yum time.

I also lean towards it being predator evasion mechanism although the shed does have keratin (protein), I would imagine the amount would be considerbly low in dead skin.

If only they can speak:)

Thanks for all the replies, Today I tried feeding again and He ran right up to it and ate it... He ate 11 mealworms, which is the most he ever ate to date.

yes thats fine i was just under the impression that he is feeding every day, i guess i didnt read close enough.

He does eat everyday only 4 or 5 mealies. But when he shed he didn't eat that day or the next! so when I went to go feed him on the 3rd day he gobble 11 of them but he wouldn't eat anymore. I was,'t trying to over feed him I hear they can down 10-16 mealworms so I wasn't worried about him downing 11.

There really is no set "standard" for how much a leopard gecko can eat.
I see so many posts with numbers, and ranges, and "standards" regarding feeding.
As babies, they should eat AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE without regurgitating.
As adults, they should do the same.
I never understood why so many people were so fixated on "how many mealworms" their animal eats.

my gecko is two years old, and she eats a random amount of mealworms every day, but we just let her eat what she wants because she has never thrown up after a feeding, so we figured if she is eating she must be hungry! Sometimes she just eats 5 a night, sometimes she eats 30...it really depends on the day! On average she probably eats around 15 mealworms a day, but we just figured she is just a gecko that eats alot. These are "regular" mealworms, so I dont know if they are considered baby or adult worms.
