Ok, I have read where certain breeders refer to a geckos nose and head lacking color as an indicator for the eclipse gene. Is this true and where did these findings originate?

This little girl hatched from an A.p.t.or x A.p.t.or pairing without visually looking at her eyes can she be called a R.a.p.t.or due to the nose and head markings?

i have in various books as well as forums that white feet and a white nose sometimes indicate the eclipse gene. i'm not sure if it's just speculation or if there is science behind it or not.

Thank you for your post, Ryan. I have also heard about the white feet linked to the eclipse gene. Any one willing to share with us there findings? Is the white feet, nose and head spot a direct link to the eclipse gene? Do all geckos expressing the eclipse gene have the same markings?( white feet, nose, and head spot )

Good question, Eric. I would say that the white nose and feet are found on a lot of R.A.P.T.O.R.s and Eclipse, but not all of them. Also, some assume that Super Snows that come from Super Eclipse and Super R.A.P.T.O.R. projects that have white noses or white legs must be expressing the Eclipse gene. I think they need to be careful when they do this. It's not a guarantee of the genetics. Below is a picture of a B.E.E. with the markings I think you're talking about. Also pictured is a Super Snow with no Eclipse genes at all that has the same kind of markings on the legs.

just my 2 cents..... i hate "genetic markers"... no matter what any one sais or proves... there are just too many stipulations involved....again.. just my 2 cents.... thats all

Thanks Jason, Paul, and Nevin. So it's not always the case.

Eric, I have had a few het x het eclipse eyes fade and believe that het x het " eclipse" animals fade more readily and quicker. That's a raptor if you ask me, but proof is in the test breeding.
