Eclipse vs. Abyssinian

Looking to find of anyone who has any Eclipse with "normal"-like eyes. By normal I mean, if their "snake eyes" or non-solid eyes, are dark like a normal non-albino, w/ dark veining.

Ron Trempers "Abyssinian" morph is exactly like an Eclipse except for having light colored eyes with light or red veining, similar to the eyes of a Tremper Albino. Then the other half of the eye is black like an Eclipse, and not red like a Raptor.

Pretty weird if you ask me, as it goes against what we all consider "normal" in a non-Albino animal. If they are indeed non-albino, I mean. If this is an odd type of Albino, I would compare it to an Enigma, having dark pigment, and light colored eyes. A type of occular albino possibly?

So does anyone else have any "normal" Eclipses out there? I know we have heard from others who have "Abs". I just want to see the difference, if possible. Please help? :main_laugh:

Here is mine BTW, she came to me from Jason Haygood, as an Eclipse. Shortly before RT`s release, I had notice she had light colored eyes(aside from the black Eclipse part of the eye), and red-ish/purple-ish veining. I thought it seemed odd, but kept quiet until Ron`s release, just in case.:main_lipsrsealed: lol

She constantly changes as you can see from the three pictures. She started without much pattern, then gained spots. The spots are constantly changing as well. Sometimes they appear to be in different places, sometimes they appear very dark, almost black, and sometimes they are more brown-ish, and very light. Sort of a "mood gecko".

I don't know, all 3 of our Snake Eyed Eclipse adults have albino looking veining in their eyes. It seems to me like most Eclipses have brown spots so I don't really get it. Maybe I'm just missing something. Certainly ours don't appear quite as red but maybe it's the camera settings.

Here's pics of ours straight out of the camera and one messed with:

The babies have silvery eyes but they hatched solid black. The older of the two seems to have more pink coming in than the younger. Maybe age has something to do with it as well.

I'm interested to see what other people's Eclipses look like!

This is my male, Damien. He has some red in his eyes and brown spots.

I have a female that looks a lot like him. Their babies are still a bit small to tell how they'll look, but two of them look a lot like they do.

Dont know what you would tell others to shut up but to me I would just think any veins at all in the eye would be red since there filled with blood.

With the way the eyes change as they grow and the variation that can be found I don't find a reason to call it something else. They are cool but they look similar to the other pictures posted. I will try and get pics of the ones we have here.

Thanks for the posts so far, everyone!

Paul, you have probably hatched enough of them to form your own opinion, right? Do you have any "normal" eyed Eclipses or not? Please answer.

We are looking for the facts in this thread, not opinions.:)

I have snake eyed mack eclipses and eclipses with and without alot of red veining if that's what you are asking. While I think I have a few that meet RT's criteria, not all of mine would. Without speaking with RT as to he exact definition of said "morph", that is only my interpretation as to what they are supposed to be.

Personally I don't see the draw. Maybe if you look really closely you can see it, but other than that it just looks brown. I guess I am just partial to the full eclipse or red eye versions. I wouldn't mind seeing some yellow eyes start to pop up in more leos.

Our girl Definitely has red veining in her eyes the male eclipse we have has one solid black eye and one 50% snake eye the normal part of the eye does not appear to have red veining.

once these pictures were resized and put on her they didn't look as red . they definitely are more so in person.

Alot of the time, I can't tell the difference between a cold incubated (dookie) Raptor and a hot incubated Eclipse...maybe there's some weird incubation technique involved here? Or maybe it's just been selectively bred to look this way...If you're goiong to selectively breed your lightest eyed animals with each other, why not also breed the ones with the darkest eyes together, and see what happens? Besides, the "black" we think we see is really just super dense red...

I know what you mean. I got this guy from Jason Haygood and he's always had very dark snake eyes-even in natural light they looked black to me, I could never see red tint in the dark areas.

Kevin, I'm so jealous...I have been wanting a big ol Raptor from Jason for the last few years. :p I know these aren't Eclipses, but i thought I'd post them anyway. My solid eyed Raptor male had bright red eyes when I received him as a hatchling, but now they appear brownish/blackish?!? WTH? and all of my snake eyed Raptor males and females have the same exact look as your male?!? What do I have to do to produce a red eyed raptor!?! Incubate at 92F? and keep them extra hot? Here's my giant Raptor male's eye:

and here's some partial eyed Raptors--they were both incubated at a steady 88F:
