What does it mean when the egg is still a little soft, even though it has been in the incubator since 2/19/08? I just candled it and it seems to have many veins and looks fertile. Can I do anything to get it hard? The other egg in that clutch is perfect.

Usually when the eggs remain soft it is due to the egg not being fertile. I have had infertile eggs incubate for 50 or more days..Their could be many other reasons for this. soft spots on the egg could be due to the mother not having abundant calcium. I would just wait it out. I have seen eggs that looked infertile hatch perfect babies...never toss an egg until you are sure it is not going to hatch...

Sometimes eggs are just a little soft. If it candles fertile, leave it be. Or, do as I do, leave it until it smells bad.
