Egg shrinking and sweating question.

About how long after the egg shrinks and looks bad or start sweating do they hatch. These will be my first hatchlings. I just noticed today that one egg is sweating and the other egg shrank drastically and looks bad but it's around time for them to hatch.

Man I am bummed. I checked on the egg and asked around. It is day 47 for that egg and I candeled it. Nothing was moving nor didn't it seem like a good egg. I decided upon advice to carefully cut it open to check. Worse case scenerio the baby pops out a few hours early. But my gut feeling was right, it was a dead embryo, couldn't have been more than 2 or 3 weeks old. I was thinking about it and we lost power a while back and since I don't have a proportional thermostat and the temp dropped really low while the power was out, I think it killed my eggs! I remember thinking I hope the power outage didn't affect them but it did. I just hope it didn't kill them all. This pushes everything back for me a little. I def need a better incubator. This sucks!

I can't remember how many eggs could be affected but I think it's like 4 others that could be dead. I have 14 eggs incubating right now though, so hopefully the 4 others will hatch, that would be a terrible loss.

Sorry to hear. I wouldn't give up on the others yet. I think it depends on what stage they are in when the temps fluctuate that has a bigger affect. May not be good, but don't throw them out yet.

Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah that's what i figure as well. I won't throw out any eggs without first cutting in to them to make sure. I am hoping the others will make it since they still look good as of right now.
