i have a female sunglow enigma that i purchased from dusty at creative gecko. she weighs in at 29 grams and has now laid 2 clutches of dud eggs in her humid hide. she isn't as plump as i'd like but her hunting skills aren't the greatest due to her enigma traits. isn't 29 grams a bit small to be spitting out eggs? and as if her being a little skinny isn't bad enough, she has been wanting to eat while this has been going on. the worse part is that i cant even tell there is eggs in her belly because she doesn't look any different than normal.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.....

Just let her finish laying her eggs and wait it out; there's nothing you can do. Don't put her with a male. I had a female that laid eggs at 27 grams right after I had bought her, and I didn't put her with a male, and she survived and even has one beautiful big daughter now (the other five eggs didn't make it).

This is how thin Twiggy was. This is the daughter (Twiglet); Twiglet has two bold stripes and two dotted stripes, and I didn't have any other striped gecko, so I was absolutely stunned and happy about this baby. She'll always be my riddle baby :)

Generally, 60 grams would be about right for breeding. But it doesn't mean she'll die of it if she's only 29 grams. You can offer her more calcium and extra food; she'll need that. Most likely, her eggs will be infertile (can your breeder confirm she has been in with a male?). Geckos can store sperm for months, so sometimes when a gecko changes hands often you don't know where the babies are coming from :main_huh: I think they can also lay duds without having been with a male, but not sure. It will take some strength and calcium out of them.

If you see something pink in the eggs, you could incubate them, anyway--maybe you'll also have a little surprise gecko.

I had a young female lay slugs when she was around 30 grams (never with a male). I just gave her extra food and calcium. She laid a couple times and then stopped.

If she has trouble hunting because of her genetics why are you passing on those traits only to create more geckos with feeding issues?

I dont think the op said she bred the female.I think she is saying the female laid dud eggs.A female can lay infertile eggs without being with a male
