Great set of pics dude! I couldn't say for sure, but to me it looks like the latter, but hopefully I'm wrong...

I haven't seen it in the flesh, but I've heard of geckoes hatching with some of their intestines outside their bodies like that. It doesn't look like the umbilical cord or remnants of the amniotic sac and I assume that we're looking at intestines. A closeup photograph of the lizard's underside should make it possible for us to confirm.

Pretty gecko and great series of pictures. Thanks for sharing.

A close up would be best, im guessing umbilical cord. Most of the time it would be that fat if it were intestines and it would probably be crazy

It is it's umbilical cord that did not completely detatch from it's yolk sack. It's not that uncommon, and it should fall of by itself in a day or so. Keep the hatchling on moist paper towel until it does.

I had one last year hatch with the intestines coming out. If you look at the underside, there will probably be an opening much larger than the pinhole size the umbilical cord makes. It was pretty clear with the opening about 1/4" that it was an umbilical hernia. I took it to the nearest (non-reptile) vet for them to put it down and it looked so lively, they decided to push the intestines back in and use the kind of glue that replaces sutures. Good intention, but bad idea. It died within a day.

I hope yours is just the yolk sac.
