Emergency vet visit for Lightning....

We still don't know what caused this, leaning toward a spider bite. There were two spots that swelling on top of his head which is believed to be the bites. He'll be fine, just need to keep pumping steriods into him for for the next 10 days or so. Poor thing swelled up so fast, this is after we got home and some of the swelling has gone down. Last pic is what he normally looks like.

He'll be much better once the sedatives wear off. He's not too nice to vets so he has to be knocked out completely for them to be able to handle him. He's still not completely awake, he slammed his face right into the glass door leaving the vets and right into the steps leading to my house.

Aw, poor fella. I'm glad he's going to be alright. My golden retriever was stung by a bee once and her face swelled up so much she looked like a Chow. I wish I had taken pictures. It was scary as all heck. Pesky bugs

I had an animal that got bit by an ant colony, looked about the same.

sorry to hear about lightings vet visit, but im glad hes okay felicia,i think i have the only dog that likes the vets office

Thanks everyone.
I had to go out to get some Benadryl for him as some of the swelling came back. I really hope this doesn't last too long, he looks so pitiful.

Well the swelling went down a lot. Still just a little puffy on the lips a bit but he's doing much better.

Felcia, I am glad he will be OK I had a simular experience but with Manx kittens I had 4 kittens and 1 adult die from spider bites out in the cattery. Never figured out what type of spider but I have to clean spiders out weekly. I am so glad he did ok his size helped alot. My poor babies were three days old and the mom died two days later. I hate spiders especially the small ones. Deb
