Enclosure Question

My beardie enclosure, which is 18" high, cracked so I'm looking into getting a new one (the current one is usable, but I'd like to have one that's not cracked). I'm looking into one with front-opening doors, rather than a tank that opens from above and one option is to get one that's 12" high instead of 18". I'm wondering if this would work for a beardie. I would imagine so, since they're terrestrial, though mine likes his hammock (which he could still have in a shorter tank), but I want to be sure. Also, currently with the 18" height I'm using a Reptisun 10.0. If I go 6" lower, will I need to switch to a 5.0 or will the 10.0 still be appropriate?

First dont switch to a 5.0 . The only problem I see with switching the height is being able to get the correct distance from the uvb bulb. A 5.0 doesn't give off the correct amount of uvb for a dragon. If you switch to the 12"I tank you may want to try a POWERSUN MVB. They give off heat and UVB. GREAT BULB. I used to have one on my beardie. But I switched to a 10.0 when I custom built her new tank myself. I hope I helped. BTW a great site for beardies is Bearded Dragon . org Try it good forum with alot of knowledge

Thanks. I'm already subscribed to beardeddragon.org, just not active. I think I've decided to stick with the 18" height even though it will cost me about $60 more.
