Enclosure questions

So I'm planning on getting a leopard gecko in a few months. I'm still making lists on all the specific items I'll be getting so I'm prepared. The enclosure size is 36x18x18 will that be alright for him? I plan on getting an adult male. And I know to have at least the 3 hides warm, cool and humid. Also what type of substrate should I use? I've heard of people using slate tiles since it's easier to clean than the carpet or sand.

The cage size is fine. If anything, it's taller than you need, but not a problem. My favorite substrate is ceramic tile that I get at the home improvement store. It's not as heavy as slate. You can also use repticarpet but I prefer tile.
The heat pad will heat well through the tile.
