Enclosure venting?

Ok i plan to build a number of gecko tanks in the near future but not sure how to go with vents, i have 2 idea's in mind, the original idea was to have 1 large rectangular vent on the front (viv1) or 2-3 vents (2") on each side (viv 2) any idea's?

Any reason not to use a screen/mesh top? To some extent it depends what kind of geckos you're building for --what type of humidity they need.

I'm hoping to build most, if not all the tanks the same and for many (planted vivs, rainforest species) a screen top wont be suitable. Will be a mix of various australian species (Diplodactylus, strophrurus, oedura, heteronotia, nephrurus, lea tails, chameleon gex etc)
